Expert since 2022Sustainable Business Development and IT Sustainability is one of my core values – since ever. Spending 30plus years of my professional career in various leadership roles in the ICT industry, I decided in 2021 to learn more about sustainability in business and tried to figure out how to apply these learnings in my daily business development work. According to researchers of the Lancaster University ICT’s contribution to global greenhouse gas emissions could be around 2.1-3.9%. This is greater than the aviation industry, which are around 2 % of global emissions. So, ICT is part of the problem, but part of the solution as well. ICT itself has many opportunities to reduce its own carbon footprint (Scope 1 and 2) and ICT solutions can help business and consumer to reduce their CO2 emissions (Scope 3). Therefore, my first expert area is ‘sustainable business development’, to help companies introduce sustainable business models to create sustainable product/services portfolios to gain a competitive advantage in the eco system and market. The second expert area is ‘sustainable IT’. With that I help companies to become more energy efficient in their ICT areas to reduce the carbon footprint and subsequently associated cost. However, beside the E-nvironmental pillar in the ESG model– environmental, there is the S-ocial pillar as well. This people focusing aspect is key to any successful transformation, especially for such a big one as the sustainability journey.

Hari Sonnenahalli
Hari Sonnenahalli is a seasoned Enterprise Architect at NTT Data Business Solutions ( NDBS), bringing over a decade of experience in integrating diverse technologies, landscapes, and modules across SAP and non-SAP environments. His expertise spans the architecture, design, and integration of both cloud and on-premises SAP solutions. Beyond his technical roles, Hari is an active contributor to the SAP community as a blogger and speaker, sharing his insights on various integration topics. His deep knowledge includes SAP modules such as Materials Management (MM), Production Planning (PP), and Master Data Management (MDM). As a middleware solution architect, Hari understands SAP's cross-functional landscapes and their integration with SAP solutions ensuring smooth business transactions for customers and vendors. Jay Thoden Van Velzen
Jay Thoden van Velzen is Strategic Advisor to the CSO at SAP and a member of the SAP Global Security Leadership Team, specifically focused on cloud security strategy during ongoing cloud transformation. He was at the forefront of SAP’s cloud security transformation through multiple annual initiatives supported by the Executive Board, helped grow the Multicloud Security organization, and brought teams together across the company to drive effective security improvements and organizational accountability. During this time SAP saw rapid Multicloud migration and growth from 2,500 cloud accounts to 15,000, during the global COVID pandemic and geopolitical changes. Jay is an SAP veteran, joining through the BusinessObjects acquisition, and worked in Consulting, Development and Cloud Security Operations, and is now in his fourth Board Area. Through that experience, he is acutely aware, therefore, of the importance of SAP solutions for the business operations of our customers, and the resulting responsibility SAP carries to secure those workloads in the cloud.
