RISE with SAP
RISE with SAP is SAP’s flagship cloud transformation package, designed to help organizations migrate to SAP S/4HANA Cloud through a single contract that bundles software, services and infrastructure. As SAP accelerates its push toward cloud ERP, understanding what RISE with SAP includes and how it aligns with organizational goals is a top priority for technology executives and project teams. What is RISE with SAP?
RISE with SAP is a subscription-based offering that packages SAP S/4HANA Cloud with SAP Business Network, business process intelligence, technical migration services and SAP Business Technology Platform consumption credits. The package is designed to lower the complexity of moving to cloud ERP by providing a single point of accountability from SAP. According to SAPinsider‘s RISE with SAP 2025 Benchmark Report, smaller organizations are currently twice as likely to be live on the solution compared to larger enterprises, which remain predominantly in the planning or exploration phases.
What use cases does RISE with SAP address?
- Cloud ERP migration: Organizations use RISE with SAP to transition from SAP ECC or other legacy ERP systems to SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition with SAP-managed infrastructure and migration tooling.
- Process transformation: RISE with SAP integrates SAP Signavio and business process intelligence capabilities, enabling organizations to identify and redesign inefficient processes before and after migration. Nearly half of SAPinsider survey respondents see RISE playing a process transformation role in their S/4HANA projects.
- AI-enabled ERP: The premium plus tier of RISE with SAP includes generative AI capabilities embedded in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, SAP Datasphere and office of the CFO tools, supporting intelligent automation across finance, operations and planning.
- Infrastructure simplification: RISE with SAP shifts infrastructure management to SAP, reducing the operational burden on internal IT teams and enabling organizations to focus on application optimization rather than underlying systems.
What does SAPinsider research say about RISE with SAP adoption?
SAPinsider‘s 2025 RISE with SAP Benchmark Report shows that while adoption is accelerating ahead of SAP’s 2027 ECC end-of-mainstream-maintenance deadline, cost concerns and unclear business value remain the top barriers. SAP’s dedicated transition support and license conversion credits are the primary drivers for migration. The report also flags growing demand for generative AI within the package and warns of a potential shortage of skilled implementation resources. Reconsidering RISE with SAPSince RISE with SAP was originally released in 2021 much has changed. What was then seen as an essentially unknown business-transformation-as-a-service offering that was based around SAP S/4HANA Cloud is now the center of SAP’s plans for cloud ERP. RISE with SAP is also at the center of SAP’s newly announced Joule embedded AI and sustainability features.
