Cloud environments make up most of the new infrastructure investments for SAP customers. Though this continues to be private cloud environments for some organizations, many are moving towards hyperscalers as a result of SAP’s continued push to move customers towards cloud solution. This is despite the fact that older systems running on local infrastructure still make up a significant proportion of workloads today. This year SAPinsider asked respondents about the factors driving their cloud deployment strategy, the actions they are taking in response to those overarching drivers, the factors influencing the decisions to move SAP workloads to the cloud, how they will measure the success of cloud initiatives, where their SAP workloads are located, and which cloud providers they are using. What was seen throughout the research was that security and cost were consistently two of the most important factors under consideration by respondents moving to the cloud. In addition, gaining flexibility and scalability are central to the reasons organizations are deploying in the cloud, but these must be balanced with security and cost objectives.
