Key Takeaways

  • Work with experienced cloud partners to drive the success of broader cloud initiatives

  • Ensure that cloud projects have small, realistic milestones to demonstrate the value of the project in achievable steps

  • Utilize the capabilities available in packages like RISE with SAP/SAP Cloud ERP Private to help drive the cloud transformation of SAP workloads

SAPinsiders have been moving to the cloud for more than a decade, yet the transformation journey is far from complete. Each organization has taken its own unique path — from lift-and-shift migrations of on-premise systems to infrastructure-as-a-service environments, to direct moves to SAP S/4HANA or RISE with SAP/SAP Cloud ERP Private. Some addressed data and code remediation early, while others are tackling those tasks post-migration. What’s clear is that while nearly every organization has cloud architecture on its roadmap, most are still navigating the transition.

Join this webinar as SAPinsider analyst, Robert Holland, breaks down findings from the Cloud Architecture for SAP Benchmark Report. You’ll hear how SAPinsiders are progressing in their adoption of cloud and hybrid cloud technologies, what’s driving architectural evolution, and how leaders differ from the hybrid majority and cloud beginners.

The research shows that leaders are generally further along in their adoption of cloud technologies. Nearly 70% of leaders are already using SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) compared to 60% of the hybrid majority and 57% of cloud beginners. The gap widens with SAP S/4HANA Cloud adoption — 62% of leaders versus 51% of the hybrid majority and just 23% of cloud beginners.

This year’s study also explored which cloud and hybrid platforms organizations are using, top priorities for evolving SAP architecture over the next 12–24 months, and the challenges encountered along the way.

With the 2027 deadline approaching, the findings make one thing clear: SAPinsiders won’t be able to rely on legacy applications much longer. Many will soon need to move to SAP S/4HANA Cloud — often through a RISE with SAP or SAP Cloud ERP Private contract. Organizations that prepare now and follow the guidance of cloud leaders will be best positioned for success.
