What Is Quality Management?

Quality management (QM) ensures that a product or service is consistent. QM consists of four main components: quality planning, quality assurance, quality control, and quality improvement. QM focuses on long-term quality goals through the implementation of short-term initiatives.

It helps coordinate and direct an organization’s activities to meet customer and regulatory requirements and improve its effectiveness and efficiency continuously. Each component of a QM system helps achieve the overall goals of meeting the requirements of the customers and the organization.
