Between January and March 2022, SAPinsider surveyed 346 members of our community about the cybersecurity threats to their
SAP systems. 31% of those respondents said their organization was in the Software & Technology sector, 20% were from the Manufacturing & Agriculture sector, and 11% were from the Healthcare & Life Sciences sector. The full findings from that research were published in our
Cybersecurity Threats to SAP Systems benchmark report.
This market insights drills into some of the differences in what cybersecurity threats the respondents from each market sector identified as being the biggest threats to their SAP systems, and how the strategies that they were employing to address these threats varied by industry. What was most interesting was that, while threats like ransomware attacks and credentials compromise were towards the top of the list for all respondents, they did not represent the biggest threats identified by respondents in each industry. The strategies that were most likely to be pursued also varied significantly by industry.
Trends that stood out include:
- Respondents in the Healthcare & Life Sciences sector were most concerned about weak access controls and custom code vulnerability.
- Manufacturing & Agriculture respondent organizations were most concerned about connections to other systems.
- Implementing automated monitoring and compliance solution was the strategy most likely to be employed by respondents in the Software & Technology sector.
