SAP customers face the impending deadline to migrate to SAP S/4HANA and the accompanying requirement to move their data to SAP HANA. Considering this is an immensely risky and expensive project, they are at a critical juncture in their overall data management strategy to not only manage the migration, but also to build a strong data foundation that will power analytics and automation.
SAPinsider surveyed 141 IT professionals across the world during March and April 2022 about their data strategy, goals, and challenges, especially with migrating and managing data in the cloud. 25% of the respondents in that
Data Management Strategies and SAP HANA research was from EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa). Over 60% of the respondents are Information Technology professionals. The remaining span roles in customer service, human resources, finance, compliance, and procurement.
Some of the insights that emerged are as follows:
- A significantly lesser percentage of EMEA respondents are moving their data to the cloud compared to the overall respondents
- Concerns about data privacy, compliance and interoperability with legacy data are slowing data migration to the cloud.
- Slightly more EMEA respondents are completely or mostly satisfied with their data strategies compared to 55% globally
