The security specialists at Thales completed the acquisition of cybersecurity firm Imperva, strengthening its cybersecurity capabilities and bolstering its presence within North America. The transaction will serve to grow Thales’ North American workforce by nearly one-third, up from 6,200 in 2022.

“Through my conversations with North American partners and customers, I understand the challenges that siloed cybersecurity products are putting on resource-constrained teams,” said Sebastien Cano, Senior Vice President, Cloud Protection and Licensing activities at Thales. “As a result, organizations have less visibility of threats, more operational complexity, and are burdened by the increasing total cost of ownership at a time when budgets are shrinking.”

Meeting the Market

SAP organizations are growing more and more concerned about identity and access management. Ensuring that only trusted members of an organization have access to sensitive information is the bedrock of a solid cybersecurity foundation. Companies need seamless and secure access to applications and services throughout their SAP landscapes.

Imperva specializes in data and app protection, both on-premises and in the cloud. The integration of Imperva’s security capabilities aims to improve the Thales security portfolio by providing application security, data security, and identity and access management.

The deal is Thales’s ninth cybersecurity acquisition in nine years and serves as a key milestone as Thales works to establish itself as a powerhouse in the cybersecurity industry.

The addition of Imperva’s capabilities to the Thales CipherTrust Data Security Platform helps ensure that migrating over to newer, cloud-based SAP systems is more secure than ever.

In an age where data volumes continue to grow and bloat, keeping it secure at all times is getting more difficult – especially when hacker’s tools continue to grow more complex and dangerous with each day. Thales’ CipherTrust Data Security Platform collates data discovery, classification, protection, and access management into a single platform, making it easier to react to and solve any security issues efficiently. The new expanded security portfolio makes Thales a one-stop shop to solve a wide range of SAP-related security needs from fundamental data security, key management, and now application security.

Reflecting on the complimentary natures of Imperva and Thales, Cano said: “By bringing together two award-winning product portfolios of Thales and Imperva, Thales will be able to more effectively and pro-actively detect, prevent, and defend critical infrastructure and sensitive data from the array of complex and sophisticated attacks that threaten business’s reputation and bottom line. This will definitely benefit our customers tremendously going forward.”
