SAP BRIM

SAP BRIM (Billing and Revenue Innovation Management) is SAP’s solution for high-volume, complex billing and revenue management in industries such as telecommunications, utilities, insurance and digital services. As organizations adopt subscription, usage-based and hybrid monetization models, SAP BRIM provides the platform for flexible billing, invoicing and revenue collection at scale. SAPinsider covers SAP BRIM implementation, S/4HANA integration and industry-specific billing transformation.

What is SAP BRIM?

SAP BRIM, formerly known as SAP Hybris Billing, is a modular application suite designed to manage high-volume, complex billing and revenue processes. It consists of four core components: Subscription Order Management (SOM), SAP Convergent Charging (CC), SAP Convergent Invoicing (CI) and Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable (FI-CA). These components work together to support the full billing cycle from order management through charging, invoicing and payment collection, integrated with SAP S/4HANA as a central financial system.

What use cases does SAP BRIM address?

  • Subscription and recurring billing: SAP BRIM manages subscription lifecycle billing including monthly charges, renewals, upgrades and cancellations, supporting telecom, media and SaaS businesses with complex product catalog and pricing structures.
  • Usage-based charging: SAP Convergent Charging rates and mediales usage data from networks, devices or platforms in real time, enabling accurate usage-based billing for telecom carriers, utilities and digital service providers.
  • High-volume invoicing: SAP Convergent Invoicing consolidates charges from multiple sources into a single customer bill, handling millions of invoices per billing period with configurable formatting and delivery options.
  • Customer account management: FI-CA handles open item management, dunning, payment processing and collections for large customer portfolios, replacing the standard SAP AR (FI-AR) module in high-volume B2C environments.

What does SAPinsider research say about SAP BRIM?

SAPinsider research and practitioner content covers SAP BRIM deployments across industries, including migration from legacy billing systems, integration architecture with SAP S/4HANA and the evolution of BRIM capabilities to support digital monetization. Organizations implementing BRIM report that it enables significant billing process flexibility and revenue model innovation that standard SAP FI billing cannot support.
