Move for Change – SAP ERP Maintenance Timelines SAP has extended mainstream maintenance for the last three enhancement packages of SAP ERP 6 (EHP 6, 7, and 8) until the end of 2027. Earlier enhancement packages will end on December 31, 2025. Customers on these last packages can extend maintenance until December 31, 2030, for an additional 2% fee on the maintenance base for on-premise customers, while ERP Private Cloud customers have this fee included in their subscription. After 2027 or 2030, depending on the chosen option, these versions will automatically transition to customer-specific maintenance, which offers limited support. To help customers transition to SAP S/4HANA, SAP introduced the SAP Customer Evolution Kit, which outlines the value and process for moving to RISE with SAP and other cloud solutions, guiding organizations toward becoming intelligent, sustainable enterprises.

How to Get the Benefits of New Implementation with a System Conversion Approach When Migrating to SAP S/4HANA When migrating your existing SAP ERP Central Component (ECC) system to SAP S/4HANA, system conversation is one approach you can take. The other option, new implementation, is not exactly new for customers. They have implemented their ERP in the past using a new implementation approach. It is a difficult choice to make between system conversion and new implementation and there is no one answer that will fit every customer, however it's worth noting that the data from SAP and some recent surveys by analyst organizations show that about 50% of customers will choose a system conversion approach over new implementation. This is a sizeable number of customers who will adopt SAP S/4HANA via system conversion. However, benefits of new implementation cannot be ignored.
