SAP has released an add-on to the SAP Environmental Compliance application that helps pharmaceutical companies track and report on energy spending. SAP says the solution can help cut energy consumption to meet increasingly strict regulations.
SAP has announced a new energy and emissions management solution for the pharmaceutical industry.
The solution is available as a functionality enhancement to the SAP Compliance Management application, part of the SAP Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) suite of applications.
The energy management solution helps pharmaceutical companies track and report their energy needs more efficiently. The solution was built by integrating features of the SAP Manufacturing and Intelligence (MII) application with OSIsoft’s process integration (PI) application and SAP Compliance Management.
The solution was developed in partnership with TechniData. In its announcement of the solution, SAP said it would help pharmaceutical companies meet increasingly strict regulations on emissions and energy consumption.
For example, California will require greenhouse gas emissions be reduced to below-1990 levels by 2010. New York City mandates that carbon emissions be reduced by 30% by 2030, and the European Union has a common target to reduce emissions by 2010 to 6 percent below the emissions levels of 1990.
