Operating in 44 markets and with over 400 branch locations nationwide, Securitas offer expertise across six key areas: On-Site Guarding, Mobile Guarding, Remote Guarding, Electronic Security, Fire & Safety, and Corporate Risk Management. To continuously enhance their offerings, Securitas leverages their state-of-the-art Securitas Operation Center and the largest mobile footprint in North America, which enables them to provide Integrated Guarding, a customizable and cohesive security solution.
To support their expanding operations and improve efficiency, Securitas needed to upgrade their SAP ERP Central Component (ECC) to SAP S/4HANA 2022. This transition also required migrating all legacy documents to the new Revenue Accounting and Reporting system. Securitas strategically chose SAP as their ERP solution to enhance operational capabilities while achieving the flexibility, scalability, and robust features needed for future success.
Securitas partnered with GyanSys and opted to upgrade from SAP ECC 6.0 to SAP S/4HANA to future-proof their IT environment. They chose RISE with SAP S/4HANA (Azure) as their deployment platform. A significant aspect of this project was the migration of nearly 2 million contract records from SAP ECC RAR to SAP S/4HANA RAR, which was successfully completed within a two-week timeline due to the innovative RAR solution provided by GyanSys.
The project posed several challenges, including the need to devise an innovative SAP S/4HANA infrastructure strategy that had never been fully deployed before, and to seamlessly integrate applications from various legacy businesses and systems. Completing the project within an aggressive timeline was crucial, requiring a near-zero downtime approach and fully automated migration. Key challenges included integrating applications from different legacy businesses and systems to maintain independent and profitable business operations, implementing new process changes to prevent future data errors, divesting security data from the broader Stanley environment and integrating non-SAP applications within a strict 11-month timeline to minimize operational impact, navigating the lack of support from SAP for migration using Classic Inbound processing and Optimized Contract Management, and completing the entire migration within a two-week timeframe, including reconciliation, with no downtime.
The GyanSys and Securitas teams conducted three iterations of the migration in lower environments, thoroughly analyzing bottlenecks and performing performance tuning in accordance with the defined migration execution plan and strategy. Both teams collaborated closely to address and rectify all data errors, implementing new process changes to prevent future occurrences. As a result, Securitas successfully completed the data carve-out, separating the security business from Stanley Black & Decker within an impressive timeline of just 11 months.
Securitas achieved significant benefits with their SAP S/4HANA upgrade, creating a future-proof system that ensures long-term viability and adaptability to industry advancements. By implementing a modern, efficient IT platform, they facilitated business growth and scalability. The upgrade consolidated multiple legacy ERP systems into a unified SAP S/4HANA environment, streamlining business processes and enhancing overall system performance. Pre-built integration capabilities between SAP S/4HANA and RISE ensured seamless communication and data flow, which notably reduced the duration of the monthly billing process and boosted operational efficiency. Additionally, the database size was optimized from 8.5TB to 850GB, improving storage resources and system performance. These advancements resulted in improved system performance, scalability, data-driven analysis, and a simplified IT landscape by eliminating legacy applications and technical debt.
