The SAPinsider 2023 Deployment Approaches to SAP S/4HANA research report found that 33% of respondents plan to optimize their workflows and processes using a system integrator, making it one of the most commonly-selected options among SAP users. It is vital that organizations work with experienced partners like Sovanta to improve their SAP experience.
Case Study
Sovanta is a leading SAP UX improvement expert, helping clients to bolster their SAP environment. Recently, the company helped Endress+Hauser, the world’s leading supplier of measuring instruments, services and solutions for industrial process engineering.
Initially, the workflows at Endress+Hauser were managed internally. However, the servers were outdated and the company’s IT team wanted to migrate them to SAP Business Technology Platform, which the company had already deployed. It selected Sovanta as its partner in this endeavor.
This process seemed complex at the outset – Endress+Hauser has more than 20 departments worldwide that would need to be considered. Sovanta first sought to understand what the previous processes covered and what the users needed going forward before implementing the new system.
Endress+Hauser wanted to remain in the SAP standard. Key goals for the project included mapping process logic with SAP Workflow Management, integrating the previous look and feel, and implementing access via the SAP Fiori Launchpad to the central inbox.
In order to bolster continuity, Sovanta kept the UI similar to the previous one, so long-time users were still comfortable. After a three-month test phase, the go live was successful.
“Sovanta is an excellent partner when it comes to workflow & process automation. The UX expertise combined with ‘Sovanta simplicity’ and the SAP BTP set new standards,” said Markus Schalk, Head of Applications Integration at Endress+Hauser.
What this Means for SAPinsiders
All too often, organizations often store data in multiple siloed systems that do not share information easily. In this scenario, users must log on to different systems to complete a single task. In addition, department-level digital workflow applications create more silos and further complexity.
It is vital that employees rely on the workflows laid out by the organization. Poorly designed workflows can lead to user frustration. In response, employees may create workarounds. These workarounds often mean using point solutions that may reduce friction in the short term but introduce technical debt that can add cost and lead to security and governance risks.
With Sovanta, Endress+Hauser was able to transfer its outdated system and migrate to SAP BTP. Crucially, it retained core elements from its previous system to keep employees engaged, while also leveraging the latest SAP capabilities.
