The upcoming end of maintenance of core SAP Business Suite applications remains the biggest factor impacting SAP ERP customers. Though a growing number of organizations have licensed SAP S/4HANA, more than 30,000 may still be undecided about their path forwards. SAP’s push towards cloud ERP through the RISE with SAP and GROW with SAP offerings has continued to ramp up over the last year, although RISE with SAP customers only make up around a quarter of those who have licensed SAP S/4HANA. SAP has attempted to encourage customers to license RISE with SAP by limiting generative AI capabilities to the offering, but this year’s research indicates this messaging is only impacting the decisions of a small proportion of respondent organizations.

The survey asked the respondents to about their SAP S/4HANA migration plans, how RISE with SAP is impacting those plans, what is preventing organizations from moving to SAP S/4HANA, ERP systems and SAP S/4HANA versions currently in use, and additional solutions are being considered to best leverage the SAP S/4HANA investment. The upcoming end of maintenance in 2027 has become by far the biggest factor impacting ERP plans, and it is imperative that organizations are ready for these changes. But as organizations move to SAP S/4HANA they must contend with the high cost of the project and the complexity of their existing systems.
