This
market insight report highlights some of the ways in which SAP customers in EMEA differ from the rest of the world.
For SAP customers, the critical challenge is how they can monetize their past SAP investments while rapidly deploying applications that takes them into the future — with minimum business risk.
Some key trends stand out for EMEA SAP customers compared to the rest of the world:
- EMEA customers are lagging the rest of the world on developing an enterprise-wide application strategy
- More EMEA customers have decided on their ABAP strategy and more of them intend to keep their ABAP on-premise compared to global customers
- On average, EMEA customers are slightly lagging in expertise related to migrating ABAP to the cloud, as well as expertise in developing ABAP extensions and other applications in the cloud.
What Does This Mean For SAPInsiders?
- Finalize the approach for legacy ABAP code before it becomes a burden, slowing down modernization. Cautiously weigh the various approaches for ABAP code on cost, time-to-market, and expertise. Depending upon the situation, the current code base can either jump-start innovation or hinder progress. Expertise is vital for rewriting and developing ABAP in the cloud, as well as utilizing tools for cloud migration.
- Upskill IT resources in critical areas such as ABAP migration and ABAP development in the cloud. Some skill building cannot wait. ABAP strategy is often a precursor for ERP modernization, and skilled ABAP cloud developers and migration experts can make the strategy successful.
- Develop an application roadmap that enables smoother integration. Several technologies, such as integration suite and process automation tools, can make maintenance and updates seamless without impacting business continuity.
