Organizations that perform critical operations and handle sensitive data often find it difficult to update their operations. This is because of the intricacies involved in ensuring the right level of security without disrupting their work.

When cloud-based healthcare analytics firm d2i needed to invest in a platform to provide modern and secure dashboards and reports to fast-paced hospital emergency departments (EDs), it started searching for a partner.

Helping medical facilities manage large amounts of data, most of which subject to strict privacy regulations, is an important part of d2i’s business model. To help overcome these issues, the company turned to compliance, technology and business processes consulting firm Protiviti.

Implementing SAP BusinessObjects dashboard and reporting solution

With its data warehouse including information on more than 21 million ED visits, d2i is adding data on more than 700,000 ED visits a month. For this reason, the company needed a cloud technology that would reduce costs for hosting SAP BusinessObjects along with specialized consulting expertise on extract, transform and load (ETL) functions, dashboard development and reporting.

In its daily work, d2i provides data analytics application that aggregates and enriches diverse data sources to some of the largest hospital ED’s in the United States, currently extracting electronic health record data into its environment for over 240 hospitals.

So its other business needs included ways to consolidate data safely and securely and periodic system support from a partner that could meet to the fast-paced and sensitive nature of the business.

Responding to these needs, Protiviti leveraged the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform, partnering with d2i to implement an SAP BusinessObjects dashboard and reporting solution. Protiviti also assisted with best practices in deploying the AWS environment, including security, SAP BusinessObjects setup and administration.

As the data warehouse and secure file transfer protocol (SFTP) solutions have matured over time, Protiviti continues to provide ongoing support when needed for upgrades and new digital efforts.

Through its collaboration with Protiviti, d2i has been able to maintain current staffing levels while expanding its customer base. The company continues to successfully deploy SAP BusinessObjects, ETL, database and web applications, all in a secure AWS environment.

This collaboration demonstrates how by laying out the foundations of critical and time-sensitive work and finding the right partner to assist with the evolving digital needs, can contribute to greater success and take it one step closer to fulfilling the organization’s ultimate goals.
