“SAP does not have a separate sustainability strategy”SAP has adopted a threefold approach to tackle emissions, with the primary focus being on avoiding emissions, followed by reducing emissions, and then compensating for any residual emissions. To avoid emissions, the company leverages digital tools such as virtual collaboration to minimize the need for travel and the associated emissions. To reduce emissions, SAP strives to optimize energy efficiency in its data centers to lower energy consumption and emissions, and it compensates for any remaining emissions through measures such as implementing an internal carbon price on business travel flights and using the revenue to purchase high-quality offsets. SAP's commitment to reducing emissions has led to significant progress, with detailed information on the company's emissions performance and journey available in its integrated report, which covers Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions. In a candid interview with SAPinsider, Daniel Schmid, Chief Sustainability Officer of SAP, talks about SAP’s journey toward Net Zero 2030, decarbonizing complex supply chains, enabling organizations to be sustainable, greenwashing risk, and future priorities.
“Security is not simply a subset of IT”Cybersecurity encompasses a wide range of areas, including endpoint and network security, and application layer security. A comprehensive understanding of these aspects is essential for organizations to protect themselves. SAP holds a unique advantage in this realm, as it possesses deep understanding of its own applications and business frameworks across various industries. SAP has created numerous security solutions, including SAP GRC and identity and access management, specifically for its own applications. One of its key assets, the Enterprise Threat Detection (ETD) tool, has undergone significant development and empowers our customers to detect and understand any abnormal activity within their SAP applications and workflows. As the developers of these tools, SAP has a deep understanding of their capabilities, giving them a competitive advantage over other players in the market. In Part 2 of the interview with SAPinsider, Roland Costea, CISO Enterprise Cloud Services (ECS) at SAP, discusses an overlooked topic in the cybersecurity field that deserves more attention, the top priorities for the year, and the top-line thing organizations must keep in mind if moving to the cloud.

SAP S/4HANA in the Cloud
From Idea to InnovationNoele Crooks will present Idea to Innovation: How the San Francisco 49ers Use Real-Time Analytics to Enhance the Fan Experience at MASTERINGSAP. Crooks sat down to share a preview of her presentation. With only ten home games a year, the 49ers needed a way to operationalize and visualize their data, in-real time, to help resolve stadium issues and improve the fan experience. Prior to the SAP BTP solution, the analytics and operations teams didn’t have insight into gameday issues fans faced until 2-3 days after the game, when analyzing the survey results. The Executive Huddle is a real-time SAP Analytics Cloud data center in a suite used for 49ers games and major events. It has over ten different data integrations feeding into SAP HANA Cloud. SAP Analytics Cloud enables the visualization of that data in the dashboards, which update every one to five minutes on game day, allowing the team to respond to fan issues in real time. This initiative has allowed the 49er’s to optimize the fan experience by addressing feedback in real time, with most stadium issues resolved in 10 minutes or less, uncovered opportunities across retail, concessions, and stadium operations to resolve 200+ issues since the launch of the Executive Huddle and SAP BTP solution. Plus obtain more insight into the data through SAP Analytics Cloud dashboards which has led to a 43% increase in fan satisfaction.

Accelerating Transformation to SAP S/4HANAThe most significant issue seen with organizations is that most do not document their business processes and store them in a single source of truth. This is crucial because knowing what business processes to transform is crucial for any transformation initiative. From a technology perspective, resources do not necessarily support an organization holistically because they support configurations and objects or maintain, and support structures and objects required to hold. And this is different from what the company needs from a business process operation perspective. In the second part of the interview series with Craig Brown, Chief Transformation Architect at Xceleon, Brown talks about the business and technology hurdles that organizations face and the strategies that organizations should take to migrate successfully to S/4HANA.
Transforming Organizations Into Intelligent Enterprises"Intelligent Enterprise" is the buzzword today. But how can organizations transform into one? What are the drivers for it? How can organizations build innovation delivery platforms? In this interview, Craig Brown, Chief Transformation Architect at Xceleon talks about what an Intelligent Enterprise is and the enablers that allow organizations to become one. He highlights the need for an innovation delivery platform and explains why organizations need to leverage one. Brown states that customers need to take an agile approach to their deployment or transformations into an intelligent enterprise. This is because the need for change is dramatic. Taking an agile approach to change allows organizations to keep their technologies up to speed with the business. Using waterfall approaches to technology deployments result in obsolete by the time projects are completed.
