Cloud Innovation Report Thumbnail
Cloud Innovation and TransformationAs organizations update their systems and infrastructure to build a platform for future innovation, many are looking at the cloud to help them achieve these goals. Their goals behind these plans, as we saw in research on How Business Leaders are Scaling Platforms and Innovation, are an ability to support new business models, improved analytics, and an ability to adopt and support cloud applications more effectively. These cloud applications and services can be the most important part of any plan for innovation. Between the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) and services offered by the hyperscalers, organizations have multiple options to establish a platform for innovation and transformation. While many already have transformation plans in progress that start with updating systems and infrastructure. Next comes redesigning and re-engineering business processes to meet today’s needs. But just as important is the need to innovate. This is more complex than transformation because it is not as simple as updating a process or replacing hardware. In fact, focusing on trying to build innovation into an organization can sometimes be counterproductive. SAP Workloads Are Moving to the CloudSAPinsider research shows that since 2019, there has been an increase in the number of organizations that are running at least some enterprise solutions in the cloud. In his 2021 research, Robert Holland, SAPinsider’s Vice President and Research Director, focuses on how SAP workloads are being impacted by this trend. “What we found is that 88% of SAPinsiders are running at least some of their SAP workloads in a private, public, or hybrid cloud environment,” writes Holland in his article. “Of the 12% who are running all their SAP workloads on internal infrastructure, or in a managed environment on-premise, nearly two-thirds say that they plan to move those workloads to the cloud within two years.” He notes that there is now a much greater focus on ensuring that any data moved to the cloud is secure. There is also a greater need to manage the ROI and costs that are involved with moving data away from traditional on-premise environments. Read Holland’s article and learn: - Which workloads are most likely to be running on either internal infrastructure or a managed environment-on premise; - The workloads most likely to be running in a private, public, or hybrid private/public cloud environment; - Why customers are moving their SAP workloads to the cloud; and - How customers are protecting vital data and managing costs associated with cloud deployments and how they are measuring success.
