The Supervisory Board of SUSE S.A. has appointed Dirk-Peter van Leeuwen, the former Red Hat Senior Vice President and General Manager for the Asia Pacific Region, as its new CEO starting May 1, 2023. van Leeuwen, who spent nearly two decades at Red Hat, has been an Open Source supporter for more than 30 years, which makes his move to SUSE, the largest independent Open Source company in the industry, a logical choice.

“The many highly skilled and passionate people at SUSE have inspired me to take on this role and collaborate with the people, the customers, and the industry at large to offer continued Open Source innovation for business-critical environments,” stated van Leeuwen, who pledged to carry on delivering business-critical and trustworthy access to continued innovation. “It is therefore with great pleasure to announce that by summer this year, I will start my next role in this journey and join SUSE as its new CEO,” added van Leeuwen.

Melissa Di Donato, who has led SUSE since 2019 and through the IPO, has stepped down. During Di Donato’s tenure, SUSE acquired Rancher and NeuVector, strongly positioning the company in container management and security. Under Di Donato’s leadership, SUSE increased revenue by more than 60% and its adjusted EBITDA by more than 70%.

SUSE is a global leader in innovative, open, and secure infrastructure software solutions for multi-cloud environments. More than 60% of Fortune 500 companies rely on SUSE to power their mission-critical workloads.
