SAP Workloads

What are Workloads?

At the basic level, a workload is the amount of work to be done by someone or something. In terms of IT, a workload is any program or application that runs on a computer.

What are SAP Workloads?

SAP offers several workload tools for customers:

  • Workload Management: Workloads on an SAP HANA system can be managed by applying limitations and priorities to how resources are used. Settings can be applied globally or at the level of individual user sessions by using workload classes.
  • Workload Monitor: This SAP NetWeaver tool analyzes statistical data for the ABAP kernel. If users are analyzing the performance of a system, they should start with the workload overview. Users can also display the total values for all instances and compare the performance of particular instances over a period of time.
  • Workload Automation: To improve workflows within SAP ERP applications, many organizations turn to third-party workload automation (WLA) solutions. A WLA solution and its job-scheduling capabilities can provide visibility of automated workflows within an SAP ERP. WLA solutions are designed to work across applications and platforms, providing a way to centrally orchestrate automated workloads during migration between SAP ERP environments.
