In 2023 SAP announced that it would support generative AI in RISE with SAP via its new generative AI assistant Joule. As an AI assistant, Joule is intended to streamline and simplify interactions with every SAP system and help SAP users achieve greater insight and make better decisions more quickly.
Although it is not yet available everywhere in RISE with SAP, the SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition 2402 update now includes access to Joule through an early adopter program. No announcement has been made about when Joule will be available in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition, although this is expected to come later in 2024. However, Joule is not the only route for leveraging generative AI in RISE with SAP. AI Foundation in the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) provides a toolkit that allows developers to access AI that is customizable, based on business data, and is supported by a number of different generative AI models.
