At SAP Sapphire 2024, multiple advancements were announced on the collaboration between SAP and Google Cloud. Through the integration of Google Cloud’s generative AI and analytics solutions with SAP applications, companies are able to draw real-time insights from their data. This will be pivotal in making informed decisions and be proactive in handling business challenges.

The following announcements pave the way for digital transformation across industries.

More Resilient Supply chains: SAP’s generative AI assistant Joule and SAP Integrated Business Planning (IBP) for Supply Chain are now going to be even more impactful in supply planning by integrating Google’s Cortex Framework and Gemini models with their joint solution, AI Powered Resilient Supply Chain. This enables accurate demand forecasting and supply chain risk mitigation by using relevant data sources like real-time weather and event data.

SAP Datasphere on Google Cloud Marketplace: The SAP Datasphere integration with Google BigQuery has been enhanced to offer bidirectional replication and federation, enabling a significant expansion of the scale of the platform. This integration now also offers a foundation for machine learning and generative AI using Google Vertex with Gemini. These capabilities are available today in SAP Datasphere for Google Cloud which is now available on the Google Cloud Marketplace. Access to a wide range of SAP and non-SAP and publicly available data is now feasible by integrating Google BigQuery with SAP Datasphere and Google Dataform.

Google X4: Supporting the largest cloud instances, required for organizations moving to SAP S/4HANA in the cloud, Google Cloud has introduced their X4 machine family which features SAP certified 16TB, 24TB, and 32TB instances designed specifically for SAP HANA. These new instances are the only VMs of this size on the market that are SAP certified to support up to 1920 vCPUs and are backed by Google’s 99.95% memory-optimized single instance SLA. X4 instances also support strong security measures such as built-in encryption and threat detection.

RISE with SAP innovation: RISE with SAP can now work with Google Cloud’s 16, 24 and 32TB X4 systems. In addition, the availability of EU Access for RISE with SAP on Google Cloud, which addresses the regulatory and compliance requirements of European customers was announced.

“SAP and Google Cloud have a deep co-innovation partnership, and we’re continuously launching new, differentiated solutions to benefit RISE with SAP customers.” said Lalit Patil, CTO of RISE with SAP.
