Accenture has given wings to its supply chain ambitions after completing the acquisition of SAP-focused consultancy Camelot Management Consultants. The deal was announced in July 2024. With this acquisition, accenture plans to boost its supply chain offerings through Camelot’s broad client portfolio of large and mid-sized companies and its decades-long partnership with SAP.

Camelot’s portfolio of companies encompasses various sectors, including chemicals, life sciences, consumer goods, and industrial manufacturing. It serves these sectors through its offices in the US, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Poland, Spain, and Switzerland, and a team of SAP, data, and supply chain experts.

This deal cements Accenture’s supply chain capabilities related to SAP and its position in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland). It also complements the services giant’s 2023 acquisition of Einr AS, a business consulting company headquartered in Oslo, Norway, that specializes in high-volume logistics solutions using SAP.

Apart from SAP-related services, Accenture has made a slew of acquisitions this year to boost its supply chain prowess. They include Flo Group, a Dutch Oracle business partner specializing in global supply chain logistics, Boston’s OnProcess Technology, which has its own supply chain services platform, and Atlanta’s Insight Sourcing, which provides strategic sourcing and procurement services.

What the acquisition means for SAPinsiders

Camelot’s acquisition further enhances Accenture’s SAP and AI-driven supply chain capabilities, which will help its clients build intelligent and resilient supply chains. The services giant already has an ongoing strategic partnership to enhance the SAP Business Network, focusing on creating transparent and sustainable supply chains. Camelot’s acquisition is expected to strengthen this partnership.

It further enhances Accenture’s position as a dominant leader in the supply chain space, especially for SAP-related services. Post the acquisitions of Camelot and Einr, the company’s headcount has grown by over 800 people, with 40 from Einr specifically joining Accenture’s SAP Business Group in the Nordic region.

Moreover, Camelot’s experience in analytics, data strategy, and modernization will also drive Accenture’s focus on helping organizations accelerate the adoption of AI in their supply chains.
