Key Takeaways

⇨ Generative AI is significantly transforming organizational operations and the future of work by automating processes and handling cognitive tasks, but challenges like costs, adaptability, and compliance remain prevalent.

⇨ Dell Technologies and Red Hat's collaboration introduces Red Hat Enterprise Linux AI (RHEL AI) on Dell PowerEdge servers, providing a low-cost, transparent platform for developing and deploying AI and generative AI models efficiently.

⇨ The partnership optimizes SAP applications through tailored solutions that enhance data management and analytics capabilities, enabling organizations to scale AI/ML strategies and streamline their processes across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

Generative AI is transforming the way in which organizations operate and is redefining the future of work. From automating processes, to taking over routine, cognitive tasks, AI is reshaping organizations. But organizations exploring Generative AI often face challenges like lack of adaptability, limited resources, high costs, and concerns around compliance, regulations, and security. For example, while the technology that is at the core of AI-enabled solutions is Large Language Models (LLMs), these are tightly regulated and require special skills and significant financial investments. Moreover, AI platforms do not easily enable organizations to deploy or scale AI/ML strategies or offer the agility to analyze and explore AI-driven innovations.

Organizations need AI platforms that are low cost, that do not have barriers to entry, are transparent, and can be trusted. Recently, Dell Technologies and Red Hat, have collaborated to bring together Red Hat Enterprise Linux AI (RHEL AI) and Dell PowerEdge servers. RHEL AI is a foundation model platform built on an AI-optimized operating system which allows users to develop, test and deploy artificial intelligence (AI) and generative AI (gen AI) models.

RHEL AI combines the open source-licensed Granite large language model (LLM) family from IBM Research, InstructLab model alignment tools based on the LAB (Large-scale Alignment for chatBots) methodology and a community-driven approach to model development through the InstructLab project. The solution is delivered as an optimized, bootable Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) image for individual server deployments across the hybrid cloud. It is also included in Red Hat OpenShift AI, Red Hat’s hybrid cloud machine learning operations (MLOps) platform, for running models and InstructLab at scale across distributed cluster environments.

Dell for SAP

Dell Technologies and Red partnership optimizes SAP applications for improved performance, scalability, and intelligence. While Dell provides high-performance servers, storage, and networking equipment specifically designed for SAP workloads, Red Hat offers a tailored version of its Enterprise Linux operating system optimized for SAP applications. For example, SAP Data Intelligence simplifies managing AI and machine learning data and allows IT teams to find, connect, clean, and transform data from any source—including structured, unstructured, streaming, cloud, on-premises, IoT, SAP, and non-SAP systems—across different environments. When deployed on-premises, it uses Red Hat and SUSE containers on Dell EMC infrastructure, leveraging Kubernetes to efficiently manage and run data pipelines.  Dell allows organizations to gain better control of thier data and achieve faster insights using SAP Intelligent Technologies.

Dell’s AI platforms’ integration with Red Hat’s software allows organizations to use advanced analytics and machine learning capabilities for their SAP systems which includes predictive insights along with flexibility and scalability in hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

From enterprise-grade reliability and support to providing a comprehensive AI/ML ecosystem, Dell and Red Hat’s collaboration will offer unified management for monitoring, updating, and automating AI workloads, reducing operational complexity and freeing up resources for innovation. This will enable organizations to deploy and scale successful AI/ML strategies across their businesses. The partnership will enable organizations to develop AI use cases to enhance their IT systems and charge their enterprise applications across business. This offers a streamlined AI experience through optimized, AI-enabled hardware solutions, powered by the reliable foundation of RHEL AI on Dell PowerEdge, to simplify the AI journeys for users by continuously testing and validating hardware solutions, including NVIDIA accelerated computing, with RHEL AI.
