What Is Quality Management?

Quality management (QM) ensures that a product or service is consistent. QM consists of four main components: quality planning, quality assurance, quality control, and quality improvement. QM focuses on long-term quality goals through the implementation of short-term initiatives.

A QM system tracks processes, procedures, and responsibilities for achieving QM policies and objectives. It helps coordinate and direct an organization’s activities to meet customer and regulatory requirements and improve its effectiveness and efficiency continuously.
