What is SAP S/4HANA Implementation?
SAP S/4HANA is the current enterprise ERP solution provided by SAP. SAP S/4HANA Implementation covers the deployment and configuration of the solution. Genix Pharma Modernizes ERP for Future GrowthNov 8, 2021 — Pakistan-based pharmaceutical firm Genix Pharma needed to modernize its ERP system to handle strong business growth, an increase in the number of customers, an expanded base of operations, and regulatory requirements. The company wanted a state-of-the-art platform that would streamline its business processes, get more visibility into its manufacturing processes, handle the increased production volume, gain data insights to enable data-driven decision-making, and improve compliance.
The company met with the local SAP team to discuss their options and decided to use RISE with SAP to transition to SAP S/4HANA Cloud because it was cloud based, provided the features it needed to handle its rapid growth, and saved it money on hardware and maintenance costs. Using RISE with SAP and partnering with SuperNova helped reduce the cost and complexity of upgrading its IT landscape. Genix Pharma was also able to connect SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition, with SAP Learning Hub and SAP Ariba Network. Genix Pharma expects to go live with SAP S/4HANA Cloud in early 2022.

SAP S/4HANA To Support Supply Chain Modernization at CBSOct 26, 2021 — A combination of changing customer and employee expectations, and an increased need for digital engagement and business agility in the healthcare industry have acted as a catalyst for an SAP S/4HANA business case at Canadian Blood Services (CBS). Shifting its interactions with hospitals and donors to an online experience and improving overall user experience for all of its stakeholders — including its employees — is informing digital transformation across the organization.
SAPinsider talked with CBS’s CIO Ralph Michaelis, who heads up the organization’s enterprise IT group, to learn what is inspiring CBS’s latest innovations. One specific key performance indicator (KPI) noted by Michaelis is to become more agile and dynamic in collections planning and inventory management for plasma-protein-driven products. “We collect about 800,000 units of blood and we do that through about 1.2 million appointments every year. It’s a large volume,” Michaelis says.
CBS was able to increase the frequency of its collections planning to be done on a quarterly basis, rather than annually. Michaelis says the next goal is to conduct planning every few weeks. And, Digital donor engagement has improved from 5% to 80%, says Michaelis. He refers to the results as “not a boom but a game of inches,” explaining that continuous innovation in bursts happened over a five-year span. “If your horizon for delivery is too long, you risk the context of that project changing within that timeframe.”

Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) builds the ships at the heart of the U.S. Navy’s strategic force: aircraft carriers and nuclear submarines. With $5 billion in revenues and more than 25,000 employees, Va.-based NNS is the largest military shipbuilding company in the United States.
As it entered the 21st century, NNS accelerated its effort to transform into an integrated digital shipbuilder. “The digitization of our business was a driving force for our migration to SAP S/4HANA. It is the foundation for our integrated digital shipbuilding journey,” says Greg Robinette, IT Systems Architect, Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS).
Robinette stresses that the journey to SAP S/4HANA took a lot of cooperation between IT and business units. “Figuring out everything was a journey and took a high degree of cooperation. One of our lessons learned was to bring the business in as early as possible,” he advises.

For some, a new implementation, typically called a Greenfield deployment, offers the advantage of moving away from limitations of older deployments. However, since a new implementation enables a complete re-engineering and process it can be more complex. Meanwhile, a system conversion, referred to as “Brownfield”, enables migration to SAP S/4HANA without re-implementation and disruptions to systems, but does have limitations.
