Organizations are under increasing pressure to innovate while maintaining operational resilience, security, and cost efficiency. As SAP customers modernize their ERP environments and prepare for the future, cloud ERP has emerged as the foundation for transformation, enabling organizations to streamline operations, improve agility, and accelerate innovation. To better understand how organizations are approaching cloud ERP adoption and the role cloud providers play in modernization initiatives, SAPinsider surveyed 177 members of its global community. The research reveals that cloud providers have become strategic partners in ERP transformation efforts, extending well beyond infrastructure to support security, compliance, business continuity, scalability, and emerging technologies such as generative AI. The findings show that nearly four in five organizations are already running SAP workloads in cloud environments, with 59% leveraging public cloud providers in some capacity. Security and compliance remain the most important considerations when selecting a cloud provider, followed closely by cost optimization and disaster recovery capabilities. At the same time, organizations are increasingly evaluating how cloud-native services and AI capabilities can help drive innovation and improve business outcomes. This report examines the factors shaping ERP modernization strategies, the growing influence of hyperscalers such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud Platform, and how organizations are leveraging cloud ecosystems to support SAP transformation programs. It also explores the impact of generative AI on cloud migration decisions and highlights the critical technologies, requirements, and actions organizations should prioritize to achieve long-term success.
