Process automation technologies have increasingly evolved into strategic solutions during the last few years. In their responses to the SAPinsider Process Automation and SAP S/4HANA research conducted in April 2022, SAPinsiders highlighted the supply chain as one of the top focus functions for process automation. To explore this focus further, we surveyed 106 members of our community between July and September 2022. Supply chain resiliency and agility are on top of the mind of SAPinsiders, as highlighted in their responses. SAPinsiders believe that process automation in the supply chain can help them build capabilities to address their resiliency and agility drivers. SAPinsiders consider process automation in the supply chain as a critical capability necessary for building robust supply chain capabilities required for today’s complex supply chains. The fact that 100% of APAC respondents chose the need for process automation in the supply chain as either very important or essential highlights that process automation in the supply chain is a very critical capability in their minds. For APAC respondents, the need for faster and better insights was among the top three drivers with agility and resiliency. The need for analytics, their perspective, can be addressed by many different strategies, like integrating disparate data sources (46%), building visibility into process data (27%), and propagating a culture of data-driven decision-making (21%). Overall, analytics and data management aspects emerged much stronger for APAC respondents than for the rest of the world when it comes to process automation tools and technologies.
