Coles has been on a remarkable digital transformation journey over the last four years. This has involved a move to the cloud, the implementation of SAP S/4HANA, SAP SuccessFactors, Fieldglass, Ariba, and Concur. With the new SAP environment in place, it was important for Coles to quickly realize “speed to value” from their digital investment. Rehauling regression testing practices have been an important part of supporting the goal. Automated testing was implemented in 2022, starting with the full suite of regression testing capabilities being applied to all upgrades made to their SAP S/4HANA environment, followed by their SAP SuccessFactors suite.
The move has reduced time-consuming regression testing by 65% and given a breadth of testing coverage previously unachievable. The team is now able to develop at pace, with improved assurance. Strategically it helps secure Coles’ digital investment and supports the foundations for Coles’ DevOps ambitions.
