SAP customers today often do not have a clear idea in their head about the roles and responsibilities of the SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition during its implementation and operation process, as revealed by inisghts from
Markgraf Consulting. Although it has the “Cloud” name, SAP S/4HANA Cloud cannot be regarded as a full Software as a Service (SAAS) solution, and it offers much more benefits compared to an on-premise based ERP platform with the RISE with SAP offering plays a huge role in the cloud migration process.
The RISE with SAP offering assists SAP customers in the SAP S/4HANA deployment (public or private), making sure the processes are robust and providing in-depth business insights. There are three key stakeholders involved in the RISE with SAP process- SAP subscription services, Customer and Partner (SAP services), with each of them having distinct roles to fulfil in the product lifecycle.
SAP Subscription service is involved in the discovery, realization, deployment and running process of RISE With SAP. Some key areas where the SAP subscription services are involved are project monitoring, onboarding, tools access integration provisioning and system availability support.
The customer is involved in the majority of the areas in the cloud migration process from the discovery to the run stage. Since the customers are going to be the ones monitoring and managing the bulk of the cloud migration process, they need to ensure constant process improvements and innovation is taking place within the IT systems. Responsibilities on the customer end include stakeholder identification, team enablement, sizing verification and testing
Lastly, the partner (SAP Services) is going to be the “guardian angel” for the cloud migration process, offering support and troubleshooting during hurdles in migration. The partner does not completely monitor processes like the customers do, but they jointly own multiple processes along with the customer and SAP subscription service such as project initiation, preparing custom code, operations planning, UI design, user access and security, solution configuration and integration implementation.
In order to successfully migrate to RISE with SAP Cloud Edition, all these stakeholders must work hand in hand to ensure efficiency from the discovery to the deployment stage.
