SAP has announced SAP Build Code, an application development solution that uses new AI co-pilot Joule by embedding AI-based code generation to create data models, app logic and test scripts.
The Build Code allows the use of code generation with Joule to generate application logic, data models and sample data conforming to app extensions and test scripts. With the help of Joule, onboarding is said to be simplified with automated environment set-up, one-click provisioning and streamlined application lifecycle management for developers.
SAP describes the Build Code solution as an “application development environment for Java and JavaScript” that provides developers with a turn-key solution for coding, testing, integration and application lifecycle management.
The solution features pre-built integrations, APIs and connectors to SAP and non-SAP systems, guided templates and built-in SAP developer “best practices” to accelerate development. SAP said that developers can innovate faster with the solution due to its fusion development enablement which allows them to collaborate with other developers and business experts.
Users can also extend SAP S/4HANA and other SAP and non-SAP systems by leveraging integrations, APIs, events and business services via the service center.
Nilesh Mhatre, CIO Americas, IMEA and Global Technology Center, Henkel, said: “SAP Build Code will enable rapid development and has all the features we require to build a full stack solution powered with GenAI, including pre-configured runtime and design time capabilities, enabling shorter lead time to market.”
The announcement was made at SAP TechEd 2023, among news of other innovations, including its new AI Foundation, described as the ‘one-stop-shop’ for developers looking to increase impact and efficiency. The AI Foundations product is aimed at creating GenAI-powered extensions and applications on SAP BTP.
At the event, SAP also revealed that the HANA Cloud will be adding new vector database features to its multi-model offerings at no additional cost to customers.
