Syntax case studies show how retail SAP cloud ERP migrations consolidate finance, inventory, warehouse, and omnichannel operations on one platform.
Avril Supermarché Santé reports faster store openings and financial processing after replacing fragmented systems with SAP Cloud ERP.
Merrifield Garden Center and Peerless Clothing use SAP S/4HANA and AI-assisted development to modernize operations and accelerate migration work.
Syntax published three retail case studies describing how Avril Supermarché Santé, Merrifield Garden Center, and Peerless Clothing moved core operations onto SAP cloud systems. Each retailer replaced fragmented or aging software with a single SAP foundation that connects functions the earlier systems kept apart.
Retail fragmentation is an operational constraint before it is a technical one. Separate systems for stores, warehouses, finance, and e-commerce force manual reconciliation, obscure inventory positions, and delay the financial close. Consolidating those functions on one ERP changes where transaction data lives and who can act on it, which is the mechanism behind the results each retailer reports.
How Consolidation Changes Retail Operations
Avril Supermarché Santé, a Quebec natural and organic grocer, moved from on-premises systems to SAP Cloud ERP to support a plan to nearly triple its store count. The earlier landscape carried data silos and outages that limited visibility and constrained expansion. The new platform connects warehouse, finance, and supply chain operations and gives the business real-time visibility across them. Avril reports store-opening turnaround 70 percent faster, invoicing, payments, and credit processing 59 percent faster, and customer retention improved by 15 percent. The gains follow from the consolidation itself: new stores inherit standardized processes rather than rebuild them, and finance and supply chain draw on one shared data set instead of reconciling separate records.
Merrifield Garden Center operates retail, wholesale, and e-commerce lines with more than 600 employees and peaks near 300 transactions per hour. Its legacy systems could not support modern payment methods, loyalty programs, high transaction volumes, or real-time visibility across divisions. Merrifield adopted SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition for retail, fashion, and vertical business, a configuration built for high-volume omnichannel operations. The move places retail and wholesale on one platform, supports Apple Pay and Google Pay at checkout, and strengthens security, compliance, and auditability. Unifying the two divisions removes duplicate master data and gives merchandising and finance a shared view of stock and margin across channels.
Where AI Enters the Migration
Peerless Clothing, the largest maker of men’s and boys’ tailored clothing in North America, is migrating from SAP AFS to SAP S/4HANA for fashion and vertical business with the Syntax AI CodeGenie Suite. The tool operates on the development side of the project. It analyzes legacy code and configuration, writes core-compliant code, and generates supporting documentation. In one instance involving available-to-promise logic in order fulfillment, Syntax adapted the functionality to Peerless’s requirements in days, work the firm says would traditionally have taken months. The automation stays inside the migration lifecycle, where its output can be reviewed against SAP clean-core standards, rather than reaching store or customer workflows.
The three projects align with Syntax’s stated SAP partner model, which spans strategy and licensing, packaged solutions and AI-driven build work, implementation, and managed services. Syntax holds SAP Global Certifications for Outsourcing Partners and belongs to the United VARs alliance at Platinum level. Those credentials point to continued operation of customer landscapes after go-live, relevant to a case like Merrifield’s, where compliance and auditability are ongoing obligations rather than one-time deliverables.
The reported results differ in kind. Avril’s are quantified business metrics, Merrifield’s are newly available capabilities, and Peerless’s is a compressed development timeline on a single component. Across the three, Syntax frames retail SAP work around each customer’s binding constraint, whether expansion capacity, transaction throughput, or migration effort, rather than around a common product template.
