Collibra’s June Wins With Snowflake and Databricks Strengthen Its Hand Inside SAP Business Data Cloud

Collibra spent June 2026 collecting hardware from the two engines that power SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC). On June 2, the data governance vendor and Snowflake expanded their partnership to enable bidirectional exchange of governed business context and semantics between the two platforms. Two weeks later, on June 16, Databricks named Collibra its Governance Partner of the Year. For SAP customers, both matter a great deal.

Here is why. SAP BDC, the fully managed data layer SAP and Databricks unveiled in 2025, runs on SAP Databricks and connects to Snowflake through zero-copy data sharing. Collibra is already SAP’s governance partner of choice for that platform. So when Collibra deepens its governance integration with both underlying engines in the same month, it is hardening the governance fabric that SAP BDC customers lean on.

Behind the Headlines

Collibra’s expanded integration with Snowflake synchronizes governed business context and semantic definitions between the two companies, and grounds Snowflake Cortex Analyst and Cortex Agents in trusted, governed metadata. Broader availability is slated for Q3 2026. Chandra Papudesu, Collibra’s VP of Product Management for Integrations and Lineage, framed it as bringing governed context to where AI runs. Amy Kodl, Snowflake’s SVP of Worldwide Partner and Alliances, positioned the partnership as making enterprise AI trustworthy by design.

The Databricks recognition is more than a plaque. Collibra’s bidirectional integration with Unity Catalog, AI Command Center, and new MCP Server are now live on the Databricks Marketplace. Additionally, the company is adding an AI Trust Score for governed AI assets. Stephen Orban, Databricks’ SVP of Product and Ecosystem Partnerships, credited Collibra with helping joint customers operationalize AI governance. Collibra now counts more than 20,000 organizations as customers, including over 60% of the Fortune 500.

Why SAP Architects Should Care

The timing lands against a hard truth in SAP’s own data. SAPinsider’s 2026 SAP Business Data Cloud research found that only 3% of organizations have achieved the unified, governed data layer that SAP BDC is designed to accelerate, while 38% remain in siloed or ad-hoc integration states. The governance gap is sharper still. A third of organizations have no formal governance (11%) or only basic governance with limited standards (23%), and just 12% have reached the level of automated governance required to support AI-driven workloads, which the report calls the primary value proposition of SAP BDC.
