CIB-Computer Moves Clinical Inventory Tracking From On-Premise to SAP Business One Cloud

CIB-Computer Dr. Grüneberg GmbH, a Berlin-based SAP partner that has served mid-sized companies for more than three decades, has rebuilt its CCS M2 healthcare inventory solution from a server-based, on-premises system into a fully web-based application running on SAP Business One Cloud. The company offers cloud, on-premise, and hybrid deployment options for SAP Business One, alongside consulting, training, and support, and lists healthcare among the industries it serves.

From On-Premise to Cloud: CCSM2’s SAP Business One Migration

CCS M2 manages medical products such as vertebral body replacement implants inside clinics using RFID technology. When a product is removed from inventory, the system automatically triggers a reorder with the manufacturer, a process CIB-Computer describes as reliable, traceable, and transparent. SAP Business One serves as the central ERP system in this arrangement, exchanging data continuously with systems upstream and downstream.

The migration to SAP Business One Cloud added components that did not exist in the original server-based version. Mobile storage cabinets placed directly in the operating room now connect to OR software, so a removed implant appears on the OR screen and in clinical documentation in real time. A universal EDI interface handles the reorder side of the process, feeding removal data automatically into the manufacturer’s own ERP system without manual entry. A daily consumption notification is generated and sent digitally, giving clinics a standing record of what left inventory and when.

SAP Business One Cloud sits within SAP’s product line for smaller and midsize organizations, a tier distinct from S/4HANA. Many organizations that adopted SAP Business One years ago did so on-premises, and the broader SAP customer base has shifted toward cloud-hosted deployment as SAP has directed more investment toward its cloud offerings. CCS M2’s migration path gives clinics running older, on-premises inventory systems a documented case of what that shift looks like inside a specific clinical workflow.

Extending SAP Business One Into Compliance-Driven Healthcare Workflows

CCS M2 exists in two variants. One handles implant provisioning, the workflow described above. The second, CCS M2B, applies the same underlying architecture to blood products used in transfusion medicine. CCS M2B combines SAP Business One Cloud, hosted by SAP, with blockchain technology and high-performance HF RFID sensors to control and store blood products.

CIB-Computer describes CCS M2B as an open platform built to supplement processes clinics are already legally required to follow, increasing effectiveness and patient safety. Both CCS M2 variants share the same underlying shift: ordering moves from a manual process to a digital one, and inventory becomes visible in a way a paper-based or spreadsheet-driven system does not allow. Healthcare organizations generally operate under increasing regulatory pressure to document the movement of implants and blood products from receipt through use, a pattern that extends across the industry and is not specific to any single vendor’s system. Blockchain-based traceability for healthcare supply chains has also become a more common technical response to that pressure across the sector. CCS M2B’s design reflects that broader pattern, applying it to a specific inventory and documentation problem inside SAP Business One.
